But we didn't have anything like that in our product range. In order not to repeat this, we expanded our range of women's baseball caps. To be on the safe side, we organized 15 types of baseball caps in different variations. The success was huge and that's why we still keep it in our portfolio. A baseball cap is a type of soft cap with a rounded crown and a stiff peak projecting in front. The front of the cap typically contains designs or logos of sports teams (namely baseball teams) and the back often has an adjustable closure. Baseball caps are worn by men, women and children alike, making them one of the most popular types of casual headwear around. The history of the baseball cap dates back to 1860 when Brooklyn Excelsiors player George Wheatcroft donned what is believed to be the first ever brimless hat – similar in style to today’s modern ballcap. In 1869, Cincinnati Red Stockings players began wearing red stocking caps on-field as part their team uniform from which this trend quickly caught on among other Major League Baseball clubs at that time. Fast forward to present day, and it’s estimated that approximately 50 million Americans now own at least one baseball cap. While originally designed for functionality – namely shading Players’ eyes from sunlight or providing warmth during cold games played in spring/autumn conditions - these days they have taken on more fashionably inclined roles too.
