Wool is an animal fiber that can be spun into yarn or fabric. It is most commonly associated with sheep’s wool, but can be also wool from other animals. Wool has many benefits over other fibers. Natural silk is obtained from the cocoons of the silkworm. Chinese silk has been known for many thousands of years and in the past was a valuable commodity imported from the Far East. Up to 4 km of very fine fiber is obtained from one cocoon, which is then processed into silk yarn. Silk fabrics are among the most expensive fabrics in the textile industry.
