Materials

Polyacrylic (50%)

Polyacryl (PAN) is a low-density synthetic fiber discovered in the 1940s, which is characterized primarily by its low weight and easy maintenance. It is very resistant to chemicals, but sensitive to high temperatures. Its texture is similar to wool and is also used as an additive to wool products. Polyacryl is less strong than other synthetic fibers, but has a low tendency to lint. Polyacrylic is the basic material in the production of imitation wool or fur.

Alpaca (25%)

Product made of alpaca wool. Alpaca wool is a natural fiber that comes from the alpaca, a member of the camelid family. It is lustrous and soft, making it ideal for spinning into yarn and fabric. Alpaca wool is also lightweight, strong, and hypoallergenic. In addition to being used in traditional textile applications, alpaca wool has become popular in recent years as a material for making high-end clothing. The history of alpacas dates back to pre-Inca civilizations in South America. These ancient cultures prized the animals for their fine fleece, which was used to make clothing and other textiles. Today, most of the world’s alpacas are found in Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. There are two types of alpacas: the huacaya, which has dense crimpy fibers, and the suri, whose fibers grow long and silky straight. Both huacaya and suri alpacas can be shorn once a year to yield about 2–3 kg of usable wool per animal annually. The alpaca’s coat grows in two layers. The coarse outer guard hair, which repels water and dirt, and the softer undercoat, which is made up of finer fibers. It’s the undercoat fiber that is harvested to make alpaca wool yarns and fabrics. Most commercial breeding programs focus on Huacaya alpacas because their fleeces are more desirable for spinning into yarn. Alpaca wool is similar to sheep’s wool in terms of its protein structure, but it lacks the lanolin that makes sheep’s wool itch when worn next to the skin. This makes alpaca wool garments much more comfortable to wear than those made from traditional sheep’s Wool fibers can be blended with other fibers such as cotton or silk to create fabrics with different properties.

Advantages of Alpaka:

  • Hypoallergenic - suitable for people with sensitive skin
  • Luxury natural fiber
  • Light weight
  • Extra warm
  • Very soft

Wool (25%)

Wool is an animal fiber that can be spun into yarn or fabric. It is most commonly associated with sheep’s wool, but can be also wool from other animals. Wool has many benefits over other fibers. It is warm, absorbent, fire-resistant, durable and clothing produce from wool is odorless. The use of wool dates back to the Stone Age, when early humans first began domesticating sheep. Sheep were originally bred for their meat and milk, but early humans quickly realized that their fleece could be used to make clothing and blankets. The use of wool spread throughout the world as different cultures developed their own methods of spinning and weaving it into fabric. Today, wool is still widely used in a variety of applications. It is commonly used in winter clothing because it insulates against cold weather better than any other fiber. Woolen fabrics are also popular for suits, slacks, coats, and dresses due to their wrinkle-resistance and durability.
