Viscose is a fiber that is made from regenerated cellulose. The basic raw material for production is most often wood or cotton, or another raw material with a higher cellulose content. The term "viscose" was originally used to describe the process of making rayon from wood pulp. However, it has come to refer specifically to the end product – the regenerated cellulose fiber itself. Viscose fabric has a number of properties that make it ideal for certain applications: it's strong and absorbent yet soft and drapes well. It's also relatively inexpensive to produce, making it a popular choice for budget-conscious designers. However, there are some drawbacks associated with viscose fabric as well.
